From the March 23rd issue of TV Guide: Did you catch the touching March 18 episode of Becker, when Tom Poston played a man with ALS (commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease), a fatal disorder that attacks the central nervous system? Well, there's more to it than you know. Poston's second wife died of ALS, and Becker coexecutive producer Russ Woody wrote the episode in loving tribute to his own father, Claude Herman Woody, 77, who also has ALS. He says his father has been "coming to the show every week. Everybody has a soft spot for my dad." Ted Danson agrees: "They're my heroes when it comes to father and son. There's so much love. It reminds me of my dad."

More information about this episode was published in the November 8, 2003 issue of TV Guide.

Russ Woody wrote this special episode of Becker as a tribute to his father, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2001. Two limited-edition VHS versions are available exclusively from TV Guide: 50 copies signed by Ted Danson ($14.99) and 950 unsigned ($9.99).
